Never Say Never!
by C and Bea Tours
Never is what some folks have said in the past when they hear the phase "mystery trip" but then they change their minds and give it a whirl. What is a mystery trip? It is a day or overnight motorcoach trip where everyone on the coach has no idea where they are going. The only people that know are the driver and the tour escort. A day mystery destination is usually within 2 - 3 hours travel time from the final motorcoach pickup departure point and will include some type of meal, lunch or dinner with some sightseeing. Perhaps the sightseeing may be an area or place that you have driven right past in your personal travels.
Such highlights that you may have missed might have been the Geddes-Piper House in Chestertown, MD. (www.chestertown.com) with lunch at the Bay Wolf and ice cream at the original soda fountain at Durdings both located in Rock Hall, MD. (www.rockhallmd.com). Maybe you have never heard of the Hidden Acres Clydesdale Horse Farm in Denton. MD (www.carriagememoriesfromthepast.com) but it has been part of a mystery day trip where we visited the farm and had a Clydesdale drawn wagon ride.
Some mystery day trips have been so popular that they are now offered as an annual scheduled trip. Such a trip is a visit to the cranberry bogs where we travel to the bogs and drive our motorcoach right on the lanes that connect the bogs. During the visit we learn about the entire process of the cranberries from start to finish.
One does not have to be daring to try an overnight mystery motorcoach tour as these are offered in a relaxing atmosphere, with overnight accommodations, some meals and lots of sightseeing, etc. Again the trip may be to an area where you have frequently traveled to but have never taken the time to see what else is located in that area. Lancaster, PA is one such area where you may have seen a show or went shopping. What else is there? Places to be visited are the Landis Valley Museum and enjoy an evening tour of an Amish home. An unforgettable destination included the beautiful Thunder on the Mountain Flight 93 Memorial Chapel (www.flt93memorialchapel.org) in Shanksville, PA. A recent mystery weekend traveled to Charlottesville, VA where the highlights included Mt. Vernon, Montelplier and the University of Virginia. (www.pursuecharlottesville.com)
The list of places of interest that have been visited on day and overnight mystery tours goes on and on. So why not give a mystery trip a try and discover new places and things!
