Travel and Medical Information
by Bea Foster
In today’s busy world whether traveling on your vacation or just going in town, everyone should think about having a medical information form and or card in their wallet or purse. That’s right - you never know when it will be needed!
As a tour operator, we ask our travelers when traveling on our overnight trips to complete a standard medical information form provided by our office. These forms have proven to be very helpful when a traveler has become ill and has been taken to a doctor or hospital via emergency medical services. Our tour escorts have these completed forms under their care for the entire trip and simply hand the medical form to the medical staff. Having this information helps the medical staff to complete the necessary paperwork in order to quickly assist the traveler with their problem. The form contains the necessary information such as age, home address, primary physician, medications, allergies, emergency contact, etc.
Another valuable asset for everyone, not only travelers, is a medical ID bracelet or necklace. These medical IDs should indicate your name, address, and contact information on one side while the other side should indicate your medical problems such as allergies, heart patient, etc. Your medical ID bracelet or necklace should never be taken off even when going to a formal affair!

Information for medical alert bracelets, etc. may be found by browsing the internet under medical alerts. Having allergies myself, I understand the value of current information. Some websites offer monthly online newsletters.
Remember it’s the life of a loved one or your own that you may be saving just by having a simple piece of paper in your wallet or that all important bracelet or necklace!
Happy traveling and we hope to see you in our travels!
