November’s Featured Woman
Christine Wilson Weaver
Christine grew up in Pennsville Twp. and attended Pennsville Twp. schools where she participated in many school activities such as band, choir, and softball.
After marrying her husband Joseph A. Weaver, III, they moved to Lower Alloways Creek Twp. to enjoy the country life and to raise thier now 3 adult children, Leon 22, Joey 20, and Amber 19. When her kids were smaller Christine was fortunate to be a stay at home mother and homemaker. Even though she was actively involved in her children’s lives and their busy activity schedules, she still kept very active and pitched for the local women’s softball league for many years. Christine served as president for Salem County Dance and Cheer and also took the time to form and lead a volunteer brownie Girl Scout troop in the town through the Girl Scouts of the South Jersey Pines where she encouraged and inspired many young girls to to acquire many skills, interests, and life experiences that helped nurture their individuality and leadership qualities. She claims that her child-rearing years were the happiest days of her life.

Christine later went on to pursue more schooling with an interest in the medical profession. Her passion for helping others in the community and her exceptional work ethic and leadership skills soon led her to many management positions in medical offices throughout the county. For the past several years, she has been employed as a medical office manager with the Sherrie Colaneri Day, Family Nurse Practitioner in Bridgeton.
Christine and her family now live in Mannington, where they have resided for the past ten years in their 250+ year old colonial farmhouse.
Christine enjoys many hobbies such as writing, roller derby, Bunco, listening to music and crafts She enjoys anything that has to do with nature and spending time outdoors. Christine loves to go for walks on the beach, go hiking in the mountains, go camping, or even just enjoy a quiet cup of coffee on her patio in the early morning hours while watching the sunrise. She loves to get together with family and friends and show off her cooking skills. Her newest hobby is logging onto facebook, which is where The Women of Salem County "discovered" her.
In February Christine submitted her first article to our magazine and became a featured writer in our sports and recreation section. Now known as "Motorcycle Mama", Christine is quickly gaining fans and popularity all over the county. She is on a mission: To unite women who ride or want to ride motorcycles for recreation, education, mutual support, recognition, and to promote a positive image of women motorcyclists.
Every month Christine submits articles telling us about her love of motorcycles and provides us with the skills, resources, and encouragement we need to put on our boots and ride along with her to her next destination. She keeps us up to date with current events and even participated in our fundraiser "Salem County’s Most Eligible Bachelor" where she announced and crowned the winner.
Her idea to write for this magazine on this subject was inspired from her own personal experience. She had enjoyed riding with her husband on his Harley Davidson, but wanted to experience riding on her own now that she had some spare time. She did not have any previous skills or knowledge of riding but soon realized that she didn’t have the support she needed either.
Today she is proud to say that everything she shares with us she has learned on her own. She started out by buying a small dirtbike and riding in her yard while at the same time studied everything she could learn on the subject on the Internet until she felt she was ready to take her road test. The day of her test she grabbed a couple of her friends to come along and offer her support and encouragement. She passed the test and now has a motorcycle endorsement on her drivers license. Soon after, her husband bought her a motorcycle of her own and she ventured out onto the roadways with her head held high and her hair flowing in the wind. She believed in herself and achieved a personal goal. And although she now prefers to be on the back of her husband’s bike after all, she still reaches out to women to spread the word that she is here for them if they are pondering the thought of riding or are in need of support. Her articles can be found in our sports and recreation section of the magazine.
Motorcycle Mama can also be reached by email for questions or comments at mrschrisweaver@yahoo.com. Her articles can also be found on our sister site at www.cumberlandcountywoman.com. Christine looks forward to introducing herself to the women of Atlantic County in January 2011.
