Plus Size Cocktail Dresses Will Make Any Woman Look Great
by Shawn Manaher

plus size cocktail dressesEven if your body has more curves than the average Desperate Housewife, you can still arrive at an evening party or a wedding looking sexy and stylish. There is a wide variety of plus size cocktail dresses that are made specifically to flatter women who are size 18 or larger.

In fact, designers like American Rag, Alex Evenings, Calvin Klein, Soprano, Spence, Anne Klein, Tiana B, Loves Squared, Jones New York and many more make a large variety of dresses that have been designed to flatter women who are even larger than a size 18. One of the keys to looking great is finding a dress that flatters your best features and fits you perfectly. To ensure that you have the best fit, leave some room in your budget to have the dress slightly tailored for your figure. The designers listed above make lines of dresses that can be purchased for $50 to $80, which should leave you plenty of cash to devote to altering tight or loose portions of the dress.

There are a few things you can do to accentuate parts of your figure. For instance, if you have a buxom figure, you will want to draw people’s eyes to your chest by donning a gown with a plunging neckline paired with thin, dangling necklaces. People love to see strong legs so if you have well shaped muscular legs, do not be afraid to wear something short with heels or a dress with a long slit up the side. By wearing a dress where the skirt appears to wrap around you, you will simultaneously cover any tummy rolls and draw attention to your hips. Make sure you choose a waistline that accentuates your figure. For instance, if you have a very straight waist, avoid dresses that make your waist look non-existent, and similarly if you have a small waist in comparison to your hips, make sure that you purchase something that highlights your curvy hips and thighs.

If you want to hide your legs, you do not have to wear a dress. In fact, sleek pants worn with a flowing or fitted shirt can be just as formal as any cocktail dress.

Regardless of what type of formal event you are planning to attend, you will be the belle of the ball in plus size cocktail dresses. With a little research into what types of dresses suit your figure, you can accentuate your positives, eliminate your negatives and look stunning.
