Classmates Share Love of Art

Three Salem High School classmates from the class of 1958. Three women who have gone their separate ways and live in separate counties. Three award-winning artists who share a love of art. 

Grace Spina Alliegro grew up in Salem, and now lives in Pennsville. She is an award-winning painter, whose work has been displayed in many venues.One of her pieces is of the layout of Riverview Beach Amusement Park (Pennsville).It can be found at the Church Landing Farm Museum, also in Pennsville. She has also drawn for the Pennsville Historical Society the cover for their cookbook, picture of the museum on their mugs and T-shirts, and a drawing of the Lambson Tavern on the cover of their very first book titled, “A Pictorial Review of the Township of Pennsville Past and Present”. Also, on Churchlanding Road, outside by the entrance to the museum, there is a permanent picture/scene that she drew of the Swedes crossing the Delaware into Pennsville.

Alma Cole Pesiri grew up in Pennsville, and now lives in Vineland. She is a poet who often presents her work in 3-dimensional ways, as well as the printed form.These include poems illustrated with computer art, digitally enhanced versions, or with her original photographs embedded into them.She has read and shown in several states, and recently participated in Galleria Deptford’s photography show at The Deptford Municipal Building.

Helen Moncrief Foster grew up in Pennsville, and now lives in Sewell. She primarily works in watercolors and pen and ink, and has also won many awards for her pictures. She enjoys a wide range of designs, and is noted for her true-to-life nature studies of birds, plants and animals.She will be participating in Galleria Deptford’s new show at The Deptford Municipal Building March 8 to May 5 - artist reception Sunday March 21st. 

Recently, the three classmates each won a blue ribbon for entries in the Senior Art Exhibit competition in their respective counties.All were later displayed at the 43rd Annual New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show in East Windsor, NJ.
